David’s Psalms —-Part—1
Triads (3—Division) in Prophet David’s Psalms (Zaboor– Mazamir)
(PART-1)
The fundamentals of Deen (“order of Islam”) are explained in this Hadith:-
The basis of Islam, as a divine Deen, is Quran revealed upon Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him) and he is the first interpreter of this Book. In order to sincerely de-code the real content of this revealed message of Allah, I quote one interesting Hadith ( quotation from Muhammad (pbuh), which clearly defines what is “ Deen of Islam” and what is the importance of any guidance and knowledge as revealed by Allah upon Muhammad (pbuh) in this regard.
Abu Musa has narrated that the messenger of Allah had stated that Allah’s “Knowledge and guidance (ilm and hadaya)” which was revealed to him (Muhammad), is like torrential rain on the earth. One good portion of earth accepts this rain water (i.e. absorbs it) and dry grass therein changes into green one and even new grass sprouts therein. Another piece of land retains and collects the water (in the shape of a tank or lake). Allah benefits people from this stored water—the people drink and give it to others to drink and also water their cultivated fields. And lastly this rain water reaches such a hard tract of land which neither absorbs nor retains this rain water (but this water is used for future developments)- ( Quai-aan— in Arabic words)) . In nutshell, this is the allegorical example of that person who understands DEEN of Allah and benefits from the message sent through me (Muhammad) (pbuh) by Allah by learning himself and teaching others this knowledge. And this could be also the example of that person who never raised his head to accept this “guidance from Allah” revealed through me (i.e. Prophet Muhammad) (pbuh) — (Bukhari and Muslim).
The Prophet has himself in this allegorical example defined it to be “Deen of Allah” which is source of all “knowledge and guidance”. All the material resources are here likened to flowing water with three distinct stages of uses as detailed below:-
I. At the ground stage, the maximum requirements of every member of society (present or in future) are meant to be fulfilled.
II. In the middle stage, each individual should have the liberty and opportunity to benefit from the “natural or national resources” according to his effort and labor.
III. In the final stage, the overflow cannot be retained by anyone and must be allowed to circulate for the use of other starved members of the society.
The above 3 stages are worded sequence wise in Arabic as
1. “Qabela-til-maa fa-unbata til kala’a wal a-sho-bal kaseer (water absorbed with production of “green grass”).
2. Minha ajadebo am sakat–til maa-a fana –ul-Allah-o be hunna sa fashareboo wa saqoo wa zaraoo (water stored as Tank / Reservoir for drinks/ agriculture).
3. Ima Heya qai—aan—-( for future development invested like 1/3rd re-invested in Garden– see example / hadith of Ashabul jannah)
These three way distribution is beautifully narrated in Psalm verses 23/2—3 as under
1) He makes me lie down in Green pastures ( “Fe Marai Khizr Beribdheni”—in Arabic words) –(compare with green grass) ( here Hebrew word is “ Deshe naah” =Grassy Pasture)
2) Besides still waters ( “eela Mayail Raha”—in Arabic words)—compare with water / reservoir in the above quoted hadith of Abu Musa.
3) “Yaruddu Nafsi”—in Arabic(He restores ( shoob—in Hebrew) my soul ( NehFesh— in Hebrew) compare with “Qaiaan’ or “Aruddu Feeh Suls” i.e. one third restored / re-invested in garden. (shoob means to fetch (return) back to home) Also compare with Triad part of soul in greatest commandment of Jesus in Matthew -23/27 of Heart, Soul and Mind.
So this Triad of Psalm 23/2—3 has complete correspondence with Above Hadith of Abu—Musa of knowledge (“Ilm”) & guidance (Hadayah) & understanding (“Fiqh”) of Allah’s Deen (order / system provided for human beings (as in continuation of Psalm 23/3 leads ( Hadaya) to path of righteousness ( Yahdee Ela Sabeel Ussadaqa —-Both Hadith & Psalm term it as guidance ( Hadaya)
2) – Next Triad in verse no. 33/5 which says:-
“He loves righteousness & justice, the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.
In Hebrew translation, the 3 areas “are as under
I. Righteousness is called “Sadaqa” ( Hebrew same as in Arabic)
II. “Adl” (judgement) is called “ in Hebrew mishfat / mishpat” which means “verdict / justice/ govern”.
III. Third term is “mercy / goodness” ( “Reham” / “Rahim” in Arabic & “Khasad” / “Rakhma” in Hebrew.
Compare this triad with Triad in Mathew 23/23 where Jesus reprimands that you pay Usher (One Tenth—Tithe), but you ignore greater law of Triad of Iman, Adl & Rehma
I. Iman ( Faithfulness / faith)
II. Adl ( Justice / judgement / Haq)
III. Mercy ( Rehma / mercy/ compassion)
Correspondence is very clear of the two Triads at verse 33/5 Psalm & verse Mathew 23/23 ( Note: paying Taxes —sadaqat from word Sadaqa is important part of faith in Allah ( Iman). Sadaqat is right of Allah (see Surah Inam in Quran—verse no. 6/142)—–as Jesus also said “pay to God what is right of God in Mathew—verse no. 22/21 and therefore part of faith in Allah as also word Iman ( faith) is from imanat/ trust as sadaqat / taxes being Amanat / Iman ( trust / faith) in Allah”.
“Note” u.s dollar note has the inscription of “trust in God”.
Triad no .3 :- The results of Triad of Psalm 23/1-2 is last verse Triad (23/6)
“Surely goodness (“khair” in Arabic) & mercy (Rehma in Arabic) will follow me all the days of my life, & I shall dwell in the house of Lord forever.”
This Triad claims 3 issues:-
I. Goodness (“Khair”) in Arabic ( this is “Sadaqat”)
II. “Rehma” (“Mercy”) ( see Triad– Mathew 23/23)
III. Dwelling in home of Lord ( Wasakun Fee Bait-ur-Rab)
(This is “Rabubiyyah” (From the word –“Rub”—Lord)
(Compare it to Triad—33/5 discussed above)
More Triads in Psalms :-
Psalm no 112 contains many Triads which are worth noting (though every verse in Psalm no 112 is in Triad form, but here I will discuss only those which are apparent at first sight)
I. Triad of verse no. 112/2. This verse reads—-
Wealth & Riches are in his house, & has righteousness endures forever”.
Here three issues are—-
1. Enough Wealth– (“Raghada” in Arabic & hown (hone) in Hebrew means Enough wealth / substance (this is also “Qoota” in Arabic (Food sustenance as per Labor earning).
2. Riches in the house– ( Ghani fi bait in Arabic:- In Hebrew “ Osher” ( From Ashar)—to accumulate with growth of riches / wealth ( i.e. Capital Development).
3. Righteousness .– Both in Arabic & Hebrew word is “sadaqa”—Taxes collected by Tax—Collectors ( Management Share)
So this verse 112/2 is defining all three organs of economy
1. Management ( in “Sadaqa”)
2. Capital development ( in “Ashar”)
3. Labor share (enough riches i.e. (Hown Hone) —i.e. according to “Qoota” (Labor) of the working—person.
II. The next Triad in Psalm 112 is in verse 112/4 ( compare with similar Triad at Psalm Verse no. 116/7) reads—
(As light dispels darkness for the upright), so are there 3 things (1) “Hannan” and ”Raheem” and “ Siddique”
(Gracious & compassionate and righteous man)
Here the three qualities are:
1. Gracious ( “Hannan” in Arabic & “Khana” / “Khanan” in Hebrew which means doing favor, to grow / develop (“Na’ma” in Arabic). Hannan in Arabic also means maintenance / rearing of the children. This comes under the definition of attribute of “Rehman” which is extreme love / care for development.
2. Compassionate (Raheem in Arabic & Rakhoom / Rakhmy in Hebrew means “mercy / love”
3. Righteous man (“Siddique”—both Arabic & Hebrew have root in “Sadq”). The Taxes (“Sadaqaat”) is derivative of (“Sadq” / “Siddique”).
The Triad can be derived from earlier Triads in Psalms or New Testament (as discussed earlier).
III. Verse no. 112/5 defines 3 virtues of good person ( “Saeed” in Arabic) namely:-
1. He is generous (shows favor–Hannan). Hannan means “to bend, to favor, to bestow khan-nan). Arabic word is similar “Hannan” (she-camel favoring her young ones).
2. He lends freely (Yuqredhoo—i.e. pay your loans. )—(“Lavah” in Hebrew).
(NOTE: The basic meaning of the word “Lavah” is to twine together the strands of rope (Arabic verse / Aayat reads “Wa tasamu bay Hublullah—ay jameeun –which translates stick to the rope of Allah together. This “Hublullah (rope of Allah”“is also called” Jazia / tribute of khiraj (equivalent of taxes / Sadaaqat which are Loans to Allah). (See Surah no. 3/103 & 112 + 73/20—Muzammil).
3. He will guide his affairs with discretion
The word for “Guide” in Hebrew is “Kool” which means “to provide sustenance, arrange victuals, feed, and maintenance, sustain”.
The word for Affairs is Dabar in Hebrew which means decree, deed, oracle, command.
The word for Discretion is Mishpawt which means right, privilege.
Thus, the exact translation of the third area would be— the right ( Mishpawt) of food sustenance ( kool ) is decreed ( Dabar).
The basic right of human being as right of food
Sustenance as social security being provided by West and also at the time of Hazrat Umer , second Caliph of Islam. It is worth mentioning that the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him) had contracted along with other Maccan chief’s one agreement called “Hulf-ul-fazool”, even before He was raised to the position of being messenger of Allah. The three main ingredients of this “Hulf-ul-fazool” are
i. Provision of sea water for the cowrie ( sadafa).
ii. Elimination of “Tyranny” (“Zulm”) by jointly joining hands against zalim..
iii. Equality in food security (“Ta’sa fil muash”
) —till mountains of Hira and Sabeer are there antrenched on ground.
This equality of food provision had earlier also been ordained for all the subjects in the realm of King David whether being fighting men or civilian in the city— “refer to 1 samuel 30/24-25 .“
Note: These three organs of Triad are given in Surah Quresh no 106 in Quran as well.
IV. Next triad is in verse 112/9 include (Ebyone, Sadaqa & Qeren). These three areas are detailed as under:
1. He has scattered abroad gifts to the poor (“Aa’taa-il-Masakeen”—in Arabic words).
(This is “re-investment” in the system which are “Sakin”—this is root word of above “Masakeen”( any enterprise which is not fully delivering—here Hebrew word is “Eb-yone (Ebyown)” meaning Wanting or Destitute ( from word “Abah” (aw-baw) that is to breathe —Arabic word is “Nafas” ,Reeh/ Rooh “(called in Quran as “Amre-Rabbi” 17 /85 or “soul (nafash—in Mathew–(22/37—being one of the Triad member—the Triad being heart + soul + mind)
2. His righteousness endures forever. Hebrew for this “sadaqah” (“ sadaqah” in Arabic ( this is taxation by management ( see Sadaqat in Quran 9/60 ( surah Tauba) to be distributed in 8 areas starting from poverty areas as first choice).
3. His “Horn” will be lifted high in honor. Arabic word is Qurn & Hebrew for “Horn” is “Qeren” meaning “Ray of Light” figuratively power (Quwwah) or “Hill” or “Horn”.
Thus the three organs of Triad in Psalm verse no. 112/9 are:-
1. “Sadaqa” (Taxation by management covers this).
2. “Ebyone” (develop depreciated / ill enterprises ( “Sakin”/ “Masakeen” in Arabic)—-capital developments in modern terms.
3. “Qeren” represent “Hilly Power”— force of labor.
All these issues relate to Economic Triad of Management, Capital & Labor.
Note: Regarding Ebyone i.e. destitute / sick/ Ill enterprises ( factories), your attention is invited to French philosopher Louis Blanc’s book “ Organization Du Travail “ ( 1840 A.D), in which he has suggested the division of the Profit of any factory in 3 areas:
i. One part of the income should be distributed equally among the organizational members (Modern Management) of the factory.
ii. The second part should be reserved for disabled / aged people as well as for those factories which are sick and running in losses ( i.e. miskeen units).
iii. And the third part should be distributed between the hard class laborers of the factories.
This theory of Louis Blanc is very near to the allegorical example / Hadis of the “Prophet Muhammad(pbuh)” in which income of the garden (Jannah) is divided into three parts—-(1)-as sadaqa ( management share re-distributed in 8 areas as detailed in Surah Tauba –verse no. 8/60. (2)-1/3rd income is reserved as saving / re-investment (re-circulation) in the producing system. (3)- 1/3rd is reserved for the working / laborer class.
A similar tradition is quoted in Islamic writings where Prophet David makes a supplication to Allah that he wants to see his companion in the Gardens of Heaven ( Jannah). He got a answer that you will find such a person tmorrow outside the city skirts—the first person you will meet. Proiphet David complies the command of Allah and asks such a person, whom he met next day, who was carrying a bundle of wood on his back, what is your job? The wood-cutter replied “I daily collect wood and bring it into city and sell it for one Darham (equal to six danks). Two danks I pay to my mother, two danks I reserve as daily requirements ( Nafaqa) for my family members and the rest two danks I dole out to the poor ( as Sadaqa). The prophet David replied “you really deserve the company of the Prophets in the Jannah—-”.
The verse no. 112/9 (psalm) covers all three areas as expanded by Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him), philosopher Louis Blanc and Prophet David as narrated above. ( The End of Part—1 of prophit david’s psalms).
Some Food For Thought
In part—2 of Psalms, the following issues will also come under discussion:
i. The period of stay of Prophet Noah in his Ark is 280 days (from entry to the dove’s arrival with green olive branch—genesis 7/11-12 & 8/11). We will see that this phenomenon of Noah flood and Ark is actually period of creation of human baby in mother’s womb—280 days.
ii. The prophecy of Daniel of 1290 days (Daniel—12/11) can be calculated as being time period of birth of two babies with 2 years period of milk breast feeding as mentioned in Quran. Therefore :
1290 =280+365+365+280=days.
Iii- The corner stone mentioned in Psalm no. 118/22 is actually telling us element no. 118 in the periodic table is the last corner element.
Iv- The order of elements gold, silver, copper, etc, etc—- in periodic table is the same as given in the Kings Statue order of gold, silver, and copper, etc, etc— (Daniel— 2/32-33). We will discuss that Periodic Table is actually in the form of human person with two hands spread ( actinide series and lectinide series).
